Open hybrid lecture by Assoc. Prof 𝐼𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑠 𝑃𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑑𝑖𝑠, Senior Researcher at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). He’ll be sharing practical examples from several pioneering projects, including the MedEWSa project, I-CISK Human Centred Climate Services, CLINT – Climate Intelligence, and the invaluable resources provided by CopernicusEMS, C3S, and EW4All.

The Anthropocene, marked by substantial human impact, has seen intensified hydrological hazards like floods and droughts due to environmental changes. Today, understanding and predicting these hazards is vital for effective water resource management and risk mitigation. In my lecture, I’ll cover state-of-the-art emergency management for these challenges and explore future advances in early warning systems essential for first responders, emphasizing the key factors influencing hazard predictability and decision-making improvements.
